Major Bug & Security Issue — HP OneAgent

HP released a silent update (version 1.2.50.9581) for its OneAgent system‐management software, which inadvertently removed critical Microsoft certificates (specifically the “MS-Organization-Access” certificate used by Microsoft Entra ID / Intune). As a result, affected devices (mainly HP AI PCs from the past year) lost access to Entra ID and could not log in. HP has since pulled the update and is assisting impacted customers.

OS Lifecycle & AI Enhancements — Windows 11

Microsoft has formally ended free security support for Windows 10, urging users to migrate to Windows 11. The latest Windows 11 updates include deeper AI integration—such as a voice-trigger “Hey, Copilot” mode—aimed at making the OS more conversational and proactive. What to do: If you’re still on Windows 10, plan migration to Windows 11 soon (or enroll in extended support if available). For Windows 11 users, enable “Get latest updates as soon as available” to receive new features early per Microsoft’s guidance.

Samsung has started rolling out its One UI 8 update (based on Android 16) to the Galaxy S25 series, with the S24, Z Fold6, and Z Flip6 scheduled next. New features include improved personalization (dynamic lock-screen themes, emoji wallpapers), enhanced Galaxy AI tools (Drawing Assist, Writing Assist), and stronger privacy protections (Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection “KEEP”, upgraded PQC for Wi-Fi).

What to do: If you use a supported Galaxy device, check for updates in Settings → Software update. Before installing: backup critical data, ensure you are on Wi-Fi and have sufficient battery/storage space. Consider waiting a few days if you rely heavily on the device for work to let early bugs surface.

General Update Best Practices

Across platforms (Android, iOS, Windows, etc.), updating software remains one of the most important steps for both feature access and security. Some general guidelines:

  • Check for updates manually: e.g., on Android go to Settings → System → Software Update.

  • Before updating, connect to a stable Wi-Fi network and ensure your battery is sufficiently charged (or device plugged in).

  • Keep device backups ready in case an update causes issues.

  • Monitor community/official forums for any reports of major bugs post-update before proceeding on critical devices.
