AI & Regulation

 Business & Industry Moves

Hon Hai (Foxconn) reported a 27 % jump in quarterly earnings, driven largely by surging AI demand—even as the broader electronics market remains sluggish.

OpenAI’s GPT-5 rollout has seen a mixed reception. Users have criticized its response quality, emotional tone, and a new limit of 200 queries per week. Sam Altman has pledged updates, including reinstating prior models and more customization.

Oracle unveiled its next-generation AI-enhanced electronic health records (EHR), designed to reduce administrative work and let clinicians devote more time to patients.

AI in Society & Jobs

A new Australian report from Jobs and Skills Australia suggests that while most jobs will be augmented by AI, cleaning, construction, and hospitality roles are at lower risk of full automation. In contrast, jobs in sales, PR, programming, clerical work, and business analysis are more vulnerable. The report highlights the need for vocational training and digital literacy to help workers adapt.

AI Innovation & Safety

A Google–NASA collaboration is developing an AI medical assistant called CMO-DA to provide real-time medical guidance to astronauts. In early tests, it achieved treatment recommendation accuracies of 88 % for leg injuries, 80 % for ear pain, and 74 % for stomach issues. The tool is being designed to also benefit medical care in remote areas on Earth.
